Dr Yi Wei Goh

Dr Yi Wei Goh is an Ophthalmologist that subspecialises in Cataract, Cornea/Anterior Segment and Oculoplastics.

She is known for her empathetic nature and her main objective is to provide premium eye care to her patients. She is a skilled surgeon who strives for excellence in her work. Dr Goh is multilingual and can converse in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Malay language.

Originally from Malaysia, she completed her medical degree at University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. She relocated to New Zealand in 2010 where she underwent advanced registrar training in Ophthalmology. Subsequently, she pursued fellowships in her areas of subspecialisation in Manchester, United Kingdom and Auckland, New Zealand. 

She has published numerous peer-reviewed papers in both national and international journals, and has been a speaker at various conferences held nationally and internationally. Dr Goh has also been a recipient of grants for some of the research projects she has been involved in.

Personal life

Dr Goh was an accomplished international rhythmic gymnast when she was younger. She accumulated over one hundred medals during her active participation in the sport and represented her country for a remarkable seven years, competing in national and international competitions. Her final competition was the South East Asian Games in 2001, where she clinched four gold medals, including one for the best individual score. 

 In recent times, she has taken up Taekwondo and attained success in the sport, claiming gold medals in her division at both the New Zealand Regional and National Championships in 2022.

 When she is not working, Dr Goh enjoys spending quality time with her family and is a proud mother of two.
